Cafu: “Roma è un posto speciale. Milano? Avevo già dato la mia firma per un altro club”
Cafu, Brazilian full-back, reflects on his years at Roma and his decision to join Milan in an interview with Il Messaggero
Cafu, the Brazilian full-back, recently spoke about his time at Roma and his subsequent move to Milan in an interview with Il Messaggero. Here are some of his statements:
TIME AT ROMA – “I spent 6 years at Roma and it was an amazing period. With that team, we will always remain in history. It truly felt like home to me right after leaving Brazil: I played in the Champions League for the first time, so it holds a special place in my heart.”
CHOOSING MILAN – “Roma was clear with me, explaining that they wanted to make changes and focus on younger players. I accepted their decision and had decided to seek a different experience. That’s why I had signed with Yokohama, a Japanese team. Then one day, Leonardo called me and passed me to Braida, who told me that Ancelotti wanted me at Milan for two seasons. My first reaction was: ‘Are you sure? I’m almost 33, you know?’ And they said, ‘Yes, we offer you a two-year deal.’ With that proposition, it was impossible to refuse.”
