Why the red flag helped Red Bull
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner doesn’t want to hear about a Sunday stroll after yesterday’s double win – quite the opposite. According to Horner, his team benefited from the red flag after the start accident involving Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon.
This allowed them to make important setup improvements. “I think the red flag helped them to readjust the front wings, after there was apparently an overcompensation. That was interesting,” said Horner.

Ocon: We wouldn’t have been any better without the contact
The Frenchman does not want to accept the contact with his teammate at the restart as an excuse for the poor Alpine result in Suzuka. “Unfortunately, I don’t think it changed the overall picture of the race,” said Ocon.
“It didn’t help, that’s for sure. But we didn’t lose much performance on both cars,” he emphasizes and admits bluntly: “I believe we just weren’t fast enough.”
“I think we made a good step forward in qualifying this weekend, but in the race, it’s probably a step back,” muses the Frenchman.
Alpine is one of three teams still without points this season, alongside Sauber and Williams.

Red Bull: Nasty “surprise” in China?
In Melbourne, Red Bull had surprising problems. Helmut Marko fears that this could happen again in China because the last race there was in 2019. At that time, the old Formula 1 regulations were still in place.
“I hope we don’t have a surprise like in Melbourne there,” says Marko to Sky. The track surface there was “so aggressive” that they were completely off the mark in terms of tire wear.
It’s supposed to be “one of our strengths,” Marko reminds us, but they were caught off guard in Albert Park. “There could possibly be another surprise in that direction,” he fears for China.
“But,” Marko also emphasizes, “we have been warned by Melbourne and I believe we now know more about how to react.”

TV Ratings: Sky stops the decline in numbers
Sky achieved its first success in the 2024 season at the Japanese Grand Prix and stopped the decline in ratings: For the first time this year, more viewers tuned in to a race compared to the previous year’s Japanese Grand Prix.
With its TV broadcast of the fourth race of the season, Sky reached an audience of 343,000, an increase of 64,000 viewers compared to 2023 when only 279,000 viewers watched the Japanese Grand Prix on the German pay-TV channel.

McLaren: Want to develop better than the others again
During the 2023 season, McLaren arguably made the biggest leap of all Formula 1 teams. Team principal Andrea Stella hopes that his team will achieve the same again this year in the fight against Ferrari.
2024 will also be “an upgrade race” again, he predicts, explaining that an update “won’t be enough” to catch up with Scuderia, “because they will also bring upgrades,” says Stella.
“But last year, we were able to develop better than our competitors,” he reminds us, emphasizing that in 2023, they found “more lap time” than the opponents over the course of the year. “So that remains our goal,” says Stella.
If they achieve that, then they will be “satisfied,” says the McLaren team principal.

Vettel: Formula 1 teams show no interest
We just found out that Sebastian Vettel will definitely not make a Formula 1 comeback with Red Bull. And it seems that the other heavyweight teams in the sport are also not interested in his services.
Everything is tight at Ferrari anyway, and at Mercedes, it is rumored that Toto Wolff already has a list of possible candidates for 2025 in mind. But apparently, neither the name Sebastian Vettel nor Mick Schumacher is on it.
Could we possibly see the four-time world champion in the World Endurance Championship soon? Here is our complete story on the subject!
