Anticipation and Goals
For Guanyu Zhou, the next race will finally take him home. It has been since 2019 that racing has taken place in China, and he will be the first Chinese driver in Formula 1 to compete in a home Grand Prix. Zhou’s anticipation is immense, and his goals are ambitious, especially considering the recent results of the Sauber team:
“This is the race I am looking forward to the most, and it is also the most important race for me – as a driver, I want to perform well. I want to finish the race, and if I finish the race, I see no reason why I should not be fighting for points – because the car should be powerful. So we need to do everything right, and then we can give it our all,” Zhou said in his media round after the Japanese Grand Prix.
Points for Zhou in his home race? That would be great!

Overall Package for Alonso
At Aston Martin, there is a strong hope for Fernando Alonso to stay. The Spaniard is ideally expected to be bound beyond the 2025 season with an attractive overall package, especially as in 2026 Honda will enter and the team becomes a works team, said team principal Mike Krack after the Japanese Grand Prix:
“When we have access to the wind tunnel and the new simulator, and everything is completed with Honda, it is certainly more attractive, definitely more than two years ago. But we also know that it’s nice to have all these things. But you have to deliver on track. That’s what really matters.”
This means that the package must always fit at each track to ensure Alonso achieves the best results, and the team is working hard:
“We have to do more. We definitely have to do more. But I think if he can fight and not be left behind, that’s already a step in the right direction. We won’t stop. We will bring more parts during the season to motivate him and make him happy at Aston Martin.”

Counting Out 2025? Not with Mercedes!
Toto Wolff is aware that Mercedes needs to make several steps forward. In his media round after the race weekend in Suzuka, he addressed Lewis Hamilton’s comments about some progress being made:
“We were very fast in the esses, while last year we were nowhere. And today in the race, looking at how it developed, we tried to do a one-stop strategy and probably overstressed the tires. We had a terrible first stint, but a very competitive second and third stint.”
He also made it clear that Mercedes can’t simply give away this and next year to focus entirely on the new regulations in 2026, as he emphasized:
“We are Mercedes. We cannot completely give up on the current regulations and continue to operate at the level we are currently at. That is not the brand’s ambition, nor ours or that of our partners. So no. I think we need to keep working hard, continue to improve our understanding, and at some point, when the FIA presents a new set of rules, we will address it, like we do with everything else, probably sooner rather than later.”

Unstoppable
Yuki Tsunoda seems unstoppable at the moment. The Japanese driver with Racing Bulls impressed even at his home Grand Prix at Suzuka with strong overtaking maneuvers, like here against Pierre Gasly in the Alpine.

Ice to LECk
No, I did not make a mistake in the small headline of this entry, LEC was written correctly in capital letters in this context because Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc will apparently venture into the ice cream business.
According to Sky, citing the Italian newspaper Il Giornale, Leclerc plans to open a restaurant in Milan named “LEC,” the abbreviation of his name in Formula 1. With him in this entrepreneurial venture are Federico Grom and Guido Marinetti, who offer high-quality and expensive ice cream with the growing ice cream chain “Grom” in several major cities.
In the coming days, there will be a press conference in Milan, in which Leclerc’s manager, Nicolas Todt, will also participate, marking the kickoff for the project.
My question to you now is: Stracciatella or Hazelnut?
