Roma has confirmed that defender Evan Ndicka is conscious and has been taken to the hospital after collapsing on the pitch during the match against Udinese on Sunday. The Serie A match was officially suspended as a result of the incident.
In a statement released on Sunday evening, the club stated, “Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended. The player is conscious and has been taken to the hospital for further checks. Forza Evan, we are all with you.”
Ndicka collapsed on the pitch after the 70th minute and was attended to by medical staff before being stretchered off. Referee Luca Pairetto respected the wishes of the players and coaching staff, leading to the official suspension of the game.
It is unclear when the remaining 18 minutes (plus stoppages) of the Udinese-Roma match will be played. The club and fans have shown their support for Evan Ndicka during this challenging time.
