Formula 1 Live ticker: Il cambio di Hamilton è stata la decisione giusta?

08:08 Uhr Hamilton transfer the right decision?

Expert Karun Chandhok can imagine that Lewis Hamilton made the right decision with his move to Ferrari in 2025. “At the moment, the Ferrari is a better package than the Mercedes,” he explains to Sky. Regarding Hamilton’s situation, he says, “He knows that he probably won’t win the championship this year unless there is a miraculous turnaround. So he might as well look to the future.”

In other words, he believes that Hamilton has already moved on from Mercedes in a way and has his sights set on 2025. “The timing of his decision must have had a reason,” emphasizes Chandhok. “If he believed that Mercedes would give him a car with which he could win the championship this year and in 2025, he probably wouldn’t have left,” the expert speculates regarding Hamilton’s move.

Another indication that the record world champion may have not believed in the great successes with Mercedes for some time now?

09:04 Uhr Haas fears problems in Suzuka

With four points from the first three races, it was a surprisingly good start to the season for Haas. However, team boss Ayao Komatsu fears that the US team might have a harder time at his personal “home race.”

“The qualifying in Melbourne showed the weakness of the VF-24, and it will unfortunately be similar in Suzuka in terms of track requirements, as Suzuka has high-speed curves in the first sector,” he explains. “When we had high-speed curves in Bahrain, Jeddah in sector 1, and in Melbourne, we saw that our car is not quite as good in this area. So sector 1 in Suzuka will be a big challenge for us.”

He also points out that overtaking is not easy on the track, and so far this year, qualifying has not been Haas’ strength. “That will be a challenge for us,” he predicts.

But let’s wait and see, as Haas was not necessarily a big points contender in the first races of the season. And yet they scored points in two of the first three races.

08:42 Uhr Speaking of age…

In this photo gallery, we take a look at the oldest Ferrari debutants in Formula 1 so far. Lewis Hamilton will also be part of this top 10 in 2025!

08:26 Uhr Has Hamilton passed his peak?

Even if the move should be the right step for Hamilton himself, the question remains whether Ferrari has also chosen the right driver? Some experts have doubts.

For example, Marc Surer explains in a video on the Formel1.de YouTube channel regarding Hamilton’s age: “At some point, the pure speed will diminish.” “He will certainly get a new motivation when he sits in the Ferrari because he wants to prove to the world that he can win races with Ferrari. But fundamentally, his age is against him,” Surer believes.

The record world champion will “definitely be able to bring his experience” to Ferrari, our expert believes, “but in terms of pure speed, I think he will lose a few hundredths or tenths.”
